The Great Blessing in Collecting The Beliefs of the Imams of the Sunnah

The correct creed is a fortress for the servant from doubts and desires, a means of safety from innovations, a reason for the expiation of sins and elevation of rank, and a protection from the eternal punishment of the Fire.

Due to the great status and importance of the creed of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah in the life of the Muslim and the safeguarding of his religion, the People of Knowledge have exerted the utmost effort in its explanation and clarification with evidence, whether in summary or detail, in poetry or prose, so much so that we have inherited a great library.

Before the reader is a compilation of statements from the Salaf pertaining to the creed of Ahl al-Sunnah, refuting innovations and responding to their proponents. What is clearly discernible in all their statements is the agreement on a single creed due to their consensus in the method of returning to the sources of the religion: the Qur'an and the Sunnah as understood by the Salaf of the Ummah.

Imam Abu al-Mudhaffar al-Sam'ani said:

"If you gather all that has passed over their tongues and what they have transmitted from their predecessors, you will find it harmonious and consistent. As if it came from one heart and flowed from one tongue. Is there a clearer proof of the truth than this?"

وصف الكتاب

العقيدة الصحيحة حصنٌ للعبد من الشُّبُهات والشَّهوات، وسببٌ للسلامة من البدع، وسببٌ لتكفير السيئات ورفعة الدرجات، وحمايةٌ من عذاب النار الأبدي.

ولعظيم مكانة عقيدة أهل السنة والجماعة وأهميتها في حياة المسلم وحفظ دينه، بذل أهل العلم غاية جهدهم في بيانها وتوضيحها بالأدلة، إجمالًا وتفصيلًا، نظمًا ونثرًا، حتى ورثنا مكتبة عظيمة.

وبين يدي القارئ مجموعة من أقوال السلف في عقيدة أهل السنة، فيها ردٌّ على المبتدعة ومن ناصرهم. والظاهر الجلي في جميع أقوالهم هو اتفاقهم على عقيدة واحدة، لاتفاق منهجهم في الرجوع إلى مصادر الدين: الكتاب والسنة على فهم سلف الأمة.

قال الإمام أبو المظفر السمعاني:

"لو جمعتَ ما مرَّ على ألسنتهم وما نقلوه عن أسلافهم، لوجدته متناسقًا متوافقًا، كأنه خرج من قلب واحد وجرى على لسان واحد. فهل هناك دليل أوضح على الحق من هذا؟"
