The Book of Knowledge is a clear and comprehensive work on the reality, virtue, manners and responsibilities of seeking Islamic knowledge. In it, Shaykh Muḥammad bin Ṣāliḥ al-ʿUthaymīn (may Allah have mercy on him) explains the meaning of beneficial knowledge, the ruling on seeking it, the conduct required of its students, and the means by which it is acquired, preserved, and acted upon.

The book guides the reader through sincerity, patience, respect for scholars, adherence to the Book and the Sunnah, correct conduct in matters of disagreement, and the dangers that may corrupt the path of learning, such as envy, arrogance, issuing verdicts without knowledge, partisanship and premature self-appointment.

Combining instruction, admonition, practical guidance and scholarly verdicts, this work is an essential resource for students of knowledge, teachers, callers and every Muslim who seeks to understand the honour of knowledge and the responsibility that comes with it.

It is a book not only about acquiring knowledge, but about being disciplined by it: learning with sincerity, acting with wisdom, differing with fairness, honouring the scholars, and remaining firmly attached to the guidance of revelation.
