خلق أفعال العباد للإمام البخاري
Khalq Af'aal al-'Ibaad by Imam al-Bukhari
Author: Imam Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhari
Investigation & Verification: Fahd bin Sulaiman Al-Fahd
"Khalq Af'aal al-'Ibaad" (The Creation of the Actions of Servants) is a foundational classical work in which Imam al-Bukhari addresses the statements of Ahl as-Sunnah regarding the Jahmiyyah, and their ruling that those who adhere to Jahmi doctrines have fallen into disbelief. The book opens by establishing this creedal position before moving into its central discussion.
The second chapter of the book addresses the issue of the creation of actions, establishing that the actions of people are themselves created, and refuting the Jahmiyyah's position on this matter. This work is considered a fundamental primary source, preserving for later generations a significant portion of the statements of the earliest scholars — including the Companions and their Successors — regarding the Jahmiyyah sect and those who share their views. It also clarifies the optimal methodology for refuting innovators and heretics.
A notable feature of this work is that Imam al-Bukhari does not merely quote and list the texts of the Salaf; rather, he provides extensive commentary on each text he cites, and directly responds to the doubts raised by the Jahmiyyah — making the book both a textual reference and a practical model for refutation.
This edition (2nd Edition) is a meticulously researched Saudi print, originally prepared as a university thesis and edited/verified by Fahd bin Sulaiman Al-Fahd. Nearly half of the book consists of valuable supporting research on the topic, making this edition widely regarded as the finest available print of the text.
